Did you know? The ancestor of donkeys is the African wild ass. Domestication of donkeys happened about 4.000 years ago, later than in the case of horses. The stubbornness of a donkey is usually due to the inadequate treatment. A mule horse is born when a donkey stallion and a mare blend, a donkey mule is born when a stallion and a donkey mare blend.
Watch it! Several colours can be observed on donkeys, just like on other domestic animals. Multi-coloured spots, which are often specific to horses, can rarely be observed on them.
