Easter Monday

Every year, the summer season at the Győr Zoo kicks off with a special Easter weekend event. On Easter Monday in particular, visitors can enjoy unique zoo programs, additional feeding shows, a bunny petting area, and Easter-themed games for both children and adults. The day also includes educational activities about responsible pet ownership, focusing on the Easter bunny, along with many other fascinating animal-related insights.

May 1

On Labor Day, the entire Kiskút Park buzzes with festive excitement. On this day, the zoo complements the Győr May Day celebrations with special activities. Visitors can enjoy animal petting, feeding shows, and even observe animal training sessions.

ÉSSE Day

Each year, a special day is dedicated to show extra care and attention to individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities. This is the family day of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Association of the Intellectually Disabled and Their Helpers (ÉFOÉSZ), and the zoo proudly serves as the venue for this meaningful event annually.

Children's Day

The zoo's Children's Day is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of May. While the zoo serves as an educational venue every day of the year, striving to make learning fun for visitorsespecially childrenon Children's Day, we go the extra mile with special playful programs designed just for them.

Zoo Night

The annual Zoo Night program is held nationwide on the last Friday of August, with participating zoos coordinating this special event. On this evening, zoos typically offer extended hours, nighttime tours, after-dark activities, crafting sessions, and predator feeding shows. It’s a unique opportunity to highlight the educational role of zoos, offering guided tours that reveal surprising and fascinating facts about various animals.

Animal Blessing – October 5 (Saturday)

On October 4, 1226. Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, passed away. Since 1931, this day has been celebrated as World Animal Day, honoring not only Saint Francis but also paying tribute to the animal kingdom. To mark this occasion, every year on the Saturday following October 4, the Győr Zoo opens its doors to four-legged family members and pets. Visitors can also take part in the traditional Animal Blessing, which takes place at 2:00 PM.

Halloween

The end of October is a special time in the life of the Győr Zoo, as the Halloween event marks the closing celebration of the season. We offer unique experiences for all those who visit the zoo during this event. Not only do we extend our opening hours (from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM), but we also provide nighttime tours and a range of exciting Halloween-themed programs for those seeking fun and entertainment.

Adoption Parents' Day

Every year, the zoo organizes a special meeting for adoptive parents, providing them with the opportunity to get a closer look at their adopted animals. During this event, adoptive parents can enjoy unique feeding shows, VIP guided tours, animal training sessions, and when possible, animal petting opportunities. The program ends with a small reception to thank the adoptive parents for their year-round support. This is a private event, requiring registration. Invitations are sent to adoptive parents via the email address provided on the adoption form.

Animals' Christmas

In mid-December, the zoo celebrates Animals' Christmas, where we give gifts to the zoo residents. Just like children, the animals are excited to unwrap their presents. They joyfully munch on the treats found in their personalized boxes, carefully selected by their caretakers. Then, the fun continues with the boxes themselves as toys.
As part of the zoo's year-end program, selected animals participate in this special event, and visitors can follow the gift-opening process during the feeding show.
