- Baboons' red bottoms serve important communication purposes.
- These animals, fearful of predators, march in strict military order across the tall grassy savannah, and the strikingly coloured buttocks of the strong males in front make it easier for troop members to adjust their position.
- Hamadryas baboons are social creatures that live in complexly structured, multi-level groups.
- They are active during the day, when they spend most of their time foraging for food, and drink together during the hottest hours of the day. In the evening, the troops gather again and spend the night on the cliffs, where they have a good view of any attackers
