Easter Monday
Every year, the summer season at the Győr Zoo kicks off witha special Easter weekend event. On Easter Monday inparticular, visitors can enjoy unique zoo programs, additionalfeeding shows, a bunny petting area, and Easter-themed gamesfor both children and adults. The day also includes educationalactivities about responsible pet ownership, focusing on theEaster bunny, along with many other fascinating animal-related insights.
May 1
On Labor Day, the entire Kiskút Park buzzes with festiveexcitement. On this day, the zoo complements the Győr May Day celebrations with special activities. Visitors can enjoyanimal petting, feeding shows, and even participate in orobserve animal training sessions.
ÉSSE Day
Each year, a special day is dedicated to showing extra care and attention to individuals with intellectual or physicaldisabilities. This is the family day of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Association of the Intellectually Disabled and TheirHelpers (ÉFOÉSZ), and the zoo proudly serves as the venuefor this meaningful event annually.
Children's Day
The zoo's Children's Day is celebrated annually on the lastSunday of May. While the zoo serves as an educational venueevery day of the year, striving to make learning fun for visitors—especially children—on Children's Day, we go the extra mile with special playful programs designed just for them.
Zoo Night
The annual Zoo Night program is held nationwide on the lastFriday of August, with participating zoos coordinating thisspecial event. On this evening, zoos typically offer extendedhours, nighttime tours, after-dark activities, crafting sessions, and predator feeding shows. It’s a unique opportunity tohighlight the educational role of zoos, offering guided toursthat reveal surprising and fascinating facts about variousanimals.
Animal Blessing – October 5 (Saturday)
On October 4, 1226, Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saintof animals, passed away. Since 1931, this day has beencelebrated as World Animal Day, honoring not only Saint Francis but also paying tribute to the animal kingdom. Tomark this occasion, every year on the Saturday followingOctober 4, the Győr Zoo opens its doors to four-legged familymembers and pets. Visitors can also take part in the traditionalAnimal Blessing, which takes place at 2:00 PM.
Halloween
The end of October is a special time in the life of the Győr Zoo, as the Halloween event marks the closing celebration of the season. We offer unique experiences for all those who visitthe zoo during this event. Not only do we extend our openinghours (from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM), but we also providenighttime tours and a range of exciting Halloween-themedprograms for those seeking fun and entertainment.
Adoption Parents' Day
Every year, the zoo organizes a special meeting for adoptiveparents, providing them with the opportunity to get a closerlook at their adopted animals. During this event, adoptiveparents can enjoy unique feeding shows, VIP guided tours, animal training sessions, and, when possible, animal petting opportunities. The program ends with a small reception tothank the adoptive parents for their year-round support. This is a private event, requiring registration. Invitations are sent toadoptive parents via the email address provided on theadoption form.
Animals' Christmas
In mid-December, the zoo celebrates Animals' Christmas, where we give gifts to the zoo residents. Just like children, theanimals are excited to unwrap their presents. They joyfullymunch on the treats found in their personalized boxes, carefully selected by their caretakers. Then, the fun continueswith the boxes themselves as toys.
As part of the zoo's year-end program, selected animalsparticipate in this special event, and visitors can follow thegift-opening process during the feeding show.
