- They are socially organized, and their herds can consist of 5-50 individuals. In addition to its graceful jumping, it has territorial behaviour: it rubs the secretions of its glands in front of the eyesand between the fingers on the branches of bushes.
- According to Hindu mythology, the moon god Chandrama rides on the back of an Indian antelope and brings good luck to the place where he lives.
- It is one of the few antelope species where the two sexes are clearly distinguishable in appearance: females and juveniles are yellowish brown, with the buck's back turning dark around three years of age. Of all the antelope forms, the Indian antelope males have the most beautiful twisted horns, up to 60 cm long. They have large eyes and ears, so their excellent eyesight, hearing and sense of smell allow them to detect danger quickly.
