  • It is a highly adaptable species, able to survive in drier aeasobtaining almost all of  its fluid needs from food. It prefers to seek out areas inhabited by humanswhere it can also digest the food reserves accumulated by humans.
As they live in large families in the wildthey should be kept in groups in terrariaas they can become bored and lethargic when alone.
  • Contrary to its Hungarian nameit has no real spines, and  is named after its fur, which resembles a thorn.
