Visitor Education 

Through our regular daily programs —such as feeding demonstrations, zoo shows, and animal training sessions- and annual events visitors can learn about the animals' natural habitats, behaviors, and dietary habits. They are also informed about the importance of habitat protection, harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, and the significance of sustainable living and environmentally conscious choices. 

Zoo camps - experiential learning for children and young people  

Zoo camps offer children and teens an interactive experience, allowing them to learn about animals, ecosystems, and conservation efforts in a real-world setting. This hands-on education is often more impactful than traditional classroom learning because it engages all the senses and fosters deeper understanding. Campers learn about the science of animal care, veterinary medicine, and species conservation, which can inspire future careers in biology, zoology, or environmental science. 

Educational programme in Tanzania:   

Through  the “Rafiki wa Faru- Friends of the Rhinos” educational programs, local communities living near Tanzania’s Mkomazi National Park are introduced to the importance of protected areas and wildlife. These programs help participants understand that without the preservation of natural habitats, their own future may also be at risk.  

Originally launched by British conservationists, the program was revived in 2022 by the Xantus Foundation and has been running successfully ever since, with strong and ongoing interest. Thanks to the Foundation’s financial and professional support, local experts have so far welcomed more than 3,600 students and their teachers from across Tanzania into the park. 

For many, it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to step beyond the protective fence and witness the park’s natural wonders and wildlife firsthand. Participants also have the opportunity to meet the passionate professionals working in the field—often under challenging and dangerous conditions. This eye-opening experience helps shape young people’s attitudes toward nature and conservation and plays a vital role in deepening their long-term commitment to protecting the environment. 

Professional Education 

Lectures and conferences organized for zoo professionals provide opportunities to learn about the latest research findings, animal care techniques, and conservation strategies. These events promote knowledge exchange and collaboration, which are essential for the success of sustainable species conservation programs. As a result, professionals can continuously develop their expertise and apply it in their daily work. 

International Professional Cooperation – Knowledge Exchange with Tanzania  

Our Foundation organizes annual study trips to Europe for Tanzanian wildlife management professionals and veterinarians. As part of the program, participants attend zoo and veterinary conferences, as well as hands-on training sessions and study visits. These trips provide valuable opportunities for Tanzanian colleagues to gain international experience, learn about European best practices, and thus support local conservation efforts more effectively.
