Permanent programs
A visit to the zoo can not only be entertaining but also an educational and exciting experience for all ages. If you want to delve deep into the mysteries of the animal world, rather than just "taking a nice walk" in the fresh air, the zoo's programs provide the best opportunities for that.
Our permanent programs can be visited free of charge with the purchase of a zoo ticket. These programs are available every day at the specified times. Please note the difference between the winter and summer seasons, as the program schedule is adjusted according to the changing opening hours!
Current Program Schedule can be found on the Information Boards
Programs for the whole day, including the current feeding shows, zoo shows, animal training sessions, and guinea pig train times, can be found on the information boards located opposite the entrance, at the Arena, and in front of the Playground House. You can use these to plan your zoo visit.
Follow our presenters' tracks to make sure you don't miss any animal-related activities! We warmly welcome you!
ZOO SHOW
- During the main season: (from March 15 to October 31): every day at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM at the Arena.
- From September 1, on weekends and public holidays, at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM at the Arena.
- During the winter season (from November to March): at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM at the Playground House.
PENGUIN WALK
- In the main season (March 15th to October 31st): every day at 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM at the penguin enclosure.
- In the winter season (November to March): every day at 12:00 PM at the penguin enclosure.
Penguins are curious and playful animals. There have been instances during penguin walks when they climbed into the lower basket of a stroller, played with the shadow of our hands, or even chased the shadow of a fly or a wasp on the ground. The balls in their enclosure serve as enrichment elements for them. Through continuous innovation, colorful objects, and toys, we aim to maintain the penguins' playful behavior, which is natural to their species. During the penguin walk, they have the chance to leave their enclosure, and we can observe them more closely.
ELEPHANT TRAINING
- In the main season (from March 15 to October 31): every day at 12:30 PM and 4:30 PM at the elephant stand.
- In the winter season (from November to March): Every day at 12:30 PM at the elephant stand, or in case of bad weather at the elephant house
During the training, the trainer and animal pair will demonstrate movements and tasks necessary for maintaining the proper quality of life for every zoo elephant. The training includes preparation for various veterinary exams, movement tasks, and habituation to other situations – such as preparations before transportation. Join the elephant training to learn more about the largest land mammal on Earth!
GUINEA PIG TRAIN
- During the main season (March 15th to October 31st): every day at 10:20 AM and 5:30 PM at the outdoor guinea pig enclosure. The train does not operate in bad weather.
- From September 1st: every weekend and public holiday at 10:20 AM and 5:30 PM at the outdoor guinea pig enclosure. The train does not operate in bad weather.
- All year round: every day at 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM at the Indoor Playhouse (Csarnok Játszóház). The train operates in all weather conditions.
Our “guinea pig train”, which has become a favorite of our visitors, runs according to schedule. “Please be careful near the tracks!” Since the train is quite scary, it is worth following the rules. The “train” of guinea pigs, marching in a single file in the elevated passage designed for them, is a very funny sight, as they hurriedly jog one after the other to finally enjoy their breakfast/dinner.
VISUAL FEEDING SESSIONS
The zoo offers visitors a full day of spectacular feeding activities. You can learn more about your favourite animals and even ask the keepers directly. Be part of the zoo's daily life! See how the tiger and lion hunt! For some animals, you can even join in the feeding. Feed a giraffe, a deer or a snouted bear on this special occasion!
The feedings are held every day during the summer, on weekends and public holidays in spring and autumn. Find out about our daily programme on the information boards or prepare for your visit to the zoo! To find out which animals will be on display that day, visit the zoo's Facebook page.

ACCESSIBLE ENCLOSURES
The philosophy of our zoo is that the closer we get to something, the better we can understand it. Since it is important to learn about the animal world, the Győr Zoo offers the opportunity to enter certain enclosures or parts of enclosures, allowing us to get closer to the residents there. These accessible enclosures are homes to herbivores and friendly animals. Please be careful! Always follow the posted rules! Some animals can be touched, while others can not. Additionally, animals can have bad days too. Let's respect their wishes if they don’t want to be petted or given zoo treats.
