Incorporating sustainable practices into the zoo’s daily routines can model responsible behavior for visitors.  

Promoting Recycling and Visitor Participation: We are displaying clear signage for waste separation to encourage visitors to do the same with their trash at home. 

Reusable Containers and Straws: Our zoo cafés and restaurants provide reusable or biodegradable cups, straws, and food containers. No single-use plastic is used in the zoo. 

Locally sources, sustainable animal food: Animal diets are sourced from locally grown ingredients, and are obtained from the nearest source, thus reducing the zoo’s carbon

The Role of Donated Produce: We collaborate with local grocery stores or farms that have overstock or unsellable produce. These surplus or rejected produce, such as fruits and vegetables that are still edible but no longer meet retail standards, are important source of nutrition for herbivorous animals, including elephants, giraffes, and various primates. This helps both reduce food waste and provides animals with fresh food. Food that might otherwise end up in landfills is repurposed for animal feeding programs, thus reducing waste and promoting a circular economy.

Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Designs for Animal Care: Our elephant house is a low-energy house, a standard aimed at achieving very high energy efficiency through natural means. The thermal energy necessary for heating the building is producedby means of an air-to-water heat pump. This help maintain the conditions needed for the species using minimal energy. The whole electricity requirement is ensured with solar panels. Thus the building has practically only water fee.  Grey water is used for cleaning and washing.

Solar Panels for Powering Zoo Operations : Solar energy is clean, renewable, and can provide significant long-term benefits to the zoo's operations. It is a fantastic way to promote sustainability while reducing our zoo's carbon footprint.
