- Protected in Hungary. Its notional value is 50.000 Ft. Stray specimens have been observed in our country.
- In Eastern Europe the population is estimated at 20,000 pairs. It builds its nests on the ground in most cases, but in recent years it is increasingly building them on bushes or branches of low trees or artificial structures due to habitat changes and human expansion.
- It is often seen sitting lazily on the ground. Its rounded tail is decorated with blurred, grayish transverse stripes. The female and male are identical, but the females are slightly more robust and have a larger body mass.
