Did you know? Sometimes it shows disgust by regurgitating stinky liquid from its stomach and spit it out with amazing precision. If it feels to be in danger and threat, it spits. Spitting serves to express the rankings in the group. Lama was domesticated about 4,500 years ago.
Watch it! It lies like the camel, flopping down first on its knees of its forelegs after pulling the legs under. The llama is adapted to the cool climate and the relatively rare vegetation in the Andes, so it is not picky when it comes to grazing.
Habitat: It can be found throughout South America
Spread: The guanaco (wild ancestor of lama) originally lived in the area lying between South Peru and Tierra del Fuego or commonly known as „Land of Fire”
