- They are highly intelligent birds. It can also be taught to talk and perform various tricks. It gets its Hungarian name from the aaara-ra calls, especially when mating. It is extremely affectionate to its mate, flying close to it during its foraging trips outside the breeding season.
- The green-winged macaw selects mainly the oily seeds from the seed mix first. The basic colour is red with green and blue stripes on the wings and tail feathers. It has a very strong beak, with a light horn-coloured upper beak and a dark lower beak
