  • The common snapping turtle is one of the largest species of aquatic turtle and comes in a variety of colours, including yellow, orange, red and black. It is an invasive species in Hungary, and unfortunately there are already specimens in the wild that have been released irresponsibly. It can be a dangerous animal. Can bite and its claws are as sharp as those of bears and cannot be trimmed as can dog claws
  • The common snapping turtle is an animal with a unique design, as its head and legs are almost completely enclosed in its shell, which provides excellent protection against predators. They are generally quiet, peaceful animals and can live up to 30 years if cared for properly. The shape of its head resembles that of an alligator, with its nose floating above the surface, hence its Hungarian name.
